Resources Impact Stress Levels in the Workplace

Ironically, STRESSED spelled backwards is DESSERTS.

And here’s something not so sweet to chew on: stress in the workplace is causing an immeasurable amount of lost productivity in all businesses. I feel an ulcer coming on…

While certain stressors are inherent across multiple industries (fear of job loss, interpersonal relationships), a recent study on stress in the UK reveals that employees are most stressed when challenging deadlines and tasks lack the appropriate level of support from management.

The study suggests a correlation between resources and stress levels, citing positions with the highest stress levels (welfare, nursing, midwifery) are those that often lack support, and the lowest levels of stress are found in process plant and machine operators, where employees seem to have the tools essential to perform their specific tasks.

To address stress in the workplace – particularly in an era where expectations are higher of employers than they’ve ever been – managers need to identify and provide solutions that allow employees to be successful at their jobs.

The World Health Organization addresses work related stress relative to resources as well, concluding “that the most stressful type of work is that which values excessive demands and pressures that are not matched to workers’ knowledge and abilities, here there is little opportunity to exercise any choice or control.”

Our configurable software is designed to operationalize workflow and help in this regard. A long-time player in the nuclear industry, our firm has expanded to other industries and internationally to provide scalable solutions adapted to you. Not the other way around.

The results are both quantitatively and qualitatively measurable by key performance indicators as well as impact on employees.

“I love DevonWay’s ease of use,” writes customer Christine Fraker, Human Performance Program Owner of WCNOC on review website, Capterra. “As an administrator, it makes my life easier as well. My users love the reports we can build easily so they can use the information in different applications.”

We hear it all the time. The realities of modern business are clashing with the needs of the modern worker, and that’s why we’re proud to partner with companies to provide sweet relief while reversing the causes of stress.
