DevonWay and Scientech Announce Cyber Security Alliance Partnership

Bethesda, MD. — U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission’s 23rd Annual Regulatory Information Conference — DevonWay, Inc. and Scientech, a business unit of Curtiss-Wright Flow Control Company, have formed an Alliance Partnership to deliver Cyber Security management for nuclear power plants. Under the terms of the partnership, DevonWay supplies its preconfigured CyberWay™ software preloaded with all controls specified in NEI 08-09 rev.6 guidelines, and Scientech bundles its nuclear engineering expertise to assist in mapping controls to assets during assessment walk-downs of digital assets at each plant. As part of 10 CFR 73.54, the Cyber Security Rule, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission has mandated that each nuclear generating plant identify and monitor the security of each critical digital asset.

DevonWay and Scientech have worked successfully together on multiple product and service engagements at nuclear power stations. This partnership agreement reinforces their commitment to jointly supply a cyber security response to nuclear plant operators who are looking for proven tools and methods from the suppliers they trust to meet this industry-wide NRC initiative. To support each plant’s unique Cyber Security Plan, CyberWay includes a Security Controls Library preconfigured with over 800 NEI 08-09 specified controls and includes features for efficiently managing plant-specific alternative controls. As Scientech and CSAT teams work together to identify and securely share alternative and common control mappings through CyberWay, participating nuclear plant sites will realize new economies of scale unavailable from other sources.

Bob Felton, Chairman and CEO of DevonWay, commented: “Good strategic solutions start with deep industry knowledge translated into effective and sustainable software solutions. DevonWay technology supports mission-critical applications in the nuclear industry. Scientech is the ideal partner with a corporate resume that includes the design and support of nuclear power instrumentation, process control systems, and other proprietary database solutions aimed at improving safety, plant performance and reliability. Our joint customers will be the main beneficiaries of this alliance.”

Ed Hollis, Vice President – Sales and Marketing of Curtiss-Wright Flow Control Co., said, “Scientech has used DevonWay software tools in other nuclear applications and found its approach to be both innovative and reliable. Our plant experience and workflow-centric implementation methodology is designed to assist each plant’s cyber security assessment team in delivering efficient and sustainable NRC compliance at the lowest total cost of ownership.”

DevonWay and Scientech are currently offering a complimentary CyberWay Security review to any nuclear plant that has not decided on a solution, or would like a review of their current plans. Interested parties are invited to contact DevonWay or Scientech to schedule an appointment.
